Rottofest, Western Australia’s only ‘overseas’ comedy, film and music festival that you don’t need a passport for, has announced its headline act as well as its 2012 line-up of comedy, films and music performances on Rottnest Island from Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 September 2012.
The 4th annual Rottofest, curated by Vulture Culture, will be a stellar weekend of laughs, tunes, visual delights and good times, celebrating the best musicians, stand-up comedians and comedy films from across the country.
Hilarious and controversial US stand up comedian Anthony Jeselnik (Comedy Central, HBO) will be making his Australian debut on the island and will also be the first international guest in Rottofest’s history. Described as both “the satanic prince of stand up” and “the funniest guy in the entire world”, Jeselnik is best known for his outrageously edgy and controversial stand-up on the Comedy Central Roasts of Charlie Sheen and Donald Trump, and his live show is unmissable.

Alongside Jeselnik will be special stand-up comedy performances from legendary Australian comedian Tim Ferguson (Doug Anthony Allstars), ARIA-nominated Chris ‘The Bloke’ Franklin, Mel Buttle (Triple J), Dayne Rathbone (National Raw Comedy Winner 2011), Nick Cody (VIC), Matt Dyktynski, (VIC) and WA’s best comic talents along for the rollicking ride.
Rottofest prides itself on showcasing the best up-and-coming local and national musicians over the weekend, and this year the aural treats come in the form of Triple J Unearthed indie-surf-pop marvels Millions (Brisbane), Tomas Ford (Perth), Stillwater Giants (Bunbury), Sonpsilo Circus (Most Promising New Talent– 2012 WAMI Awards) and many more superb local acts who will perform at Rottofest’s central hub, Hotel Rottnest.
Tim Ferguson will also host screenings of the funniest filmed comedy sketches and comedy short films, curated by Rottofest, which will be vying for a piece of the $3,000 cash prize pool. Submissions of short films up to 15 minutes in length, or filmed sketches up to 3 minutes in length are being accepted from Australian Residents until 20 July 2012.
The 2012 Rottofest entry form, complete line-up and Early Bird Weekend Passes (from $189pp until July 20th) are now on sale at www.rottofest.com.au and include ferry, accommodation and access to festival events.
