Off and Racing with The Big Pineapple
Not happy to do things by halves, The Big Pineapple is off and racing this weekend with its super-paced pineapple porsche competing in its honour at Phillip Island, with one-off backing by The Big Pineapple Markets and The Big Pineapple Music Festival. With the Festival, locked in for May 4-5, 2013, standby for more on the music front as The Big Pineapple Music Festival presents Golden Days this year in Coolum.
Meanwhile, back at Phillip Island this weekend and resplendent in the pineapple porsche, Gold Coast driver Matt Kingsley will return to the Porsche City Index Carrera Cup for Round 4. The direct connection is with the Sunshine Coast’s iconic ‘Big Pineapple,’ located at Nambour, Queensland, which was recently purchased by Porsche enthusiasts Brad Rankin, Roger Lago and Peter Kendall. The trio have big plans for the major attraction with Saturday markets already taking place and The Big Pineapple Music Festival to be held in May 2013.
General Manager and Festival Director, Mr Brendan Weatherill said, “The Big Pineapple is backing driver Matt Kingsley who is hoping for strong results to secure funding to compete in his remaining rounds of the championship. Following Kingsley’s two-day test at Zhuhai in China recently, he may be considering potential opportunities to compete in the Asian series and we would be thrilled to see The Big Pineapple porsche off and running overseas”.
Brendan is quick to point out, “This fast pace is a world away from the ease of a shuttle bus, at The Big Pineapple Saturday markets between 6.30am and 12 noon. Free parking with a free shuttle allows the convenience of direct access to the Fine Food, Growers’ and Artisans’ Markets. It is here you will find The Big Pineapple’s ‘Parfait Café’ has introduced of the Caribbean Dreams Ice Cream, with a Big Pineapple twist”. The iconic parfait bar, bought back to life from the original days, offers quality ice creams and exclusive flavours, only available at The Big Pineapple.
The Big Pineapple Fine Foods, Growers’ and Artisans’ Markets have been operating for six months and are one of the premier and biggest all-weather markets on the coast. Every Saturday from 6.30 am to 12 Noon, The Big Pineapple comes alive with foodies, artisans and local growers with prime produce and the vibe brought by live music.
